March at Cloverlock Lane | Month in Review

I’m sorry, what? It’s the end of March?? Excuse me? Who let that happen? It’s so, so overwhelming to realize that the year is already one quarter over, so we’re not going to. Instead, we’re gonna focus on the wins. Let’s look back at the big wins from March (and January and February) and plans for April.

Month in Review

Ice-uary & Snowmaggedeon

This winter was utterly insane. Three plus weeks of living in the middle of an ice rink really was a huge frustration and setback on all the projects on my list. Obviously, there wasn’t anything we could do outside, but we couldn’t get the cars close to the house, so moving any furniture in was not an option. I mean, I could barely get myself into the house!

What’s crazy, we didn’t bring any of our snow shovels/supplies with us when we moved. Everyone we talked to around the house closing talked about how mild the winters were here, so we figured we could pass all our supplies on. So, my bad, I jinxed us all and made all this snow and ice happen!

A Bee-autiful Upgrade

The girls buckled in for the ride home

Things are really buzzing around CloverLock Lane! Our first bee hive is officially up and running. It’s equally exciting and terrifying for me, but C is all in for it, so they are his ba-bees more than mine. We’re not planning on harvesting honey or wax from them this year, letting them take the first year to get themselves settled in to their hive, but we’ll see what the year brings! Hopefully their summer is so successful we end up with an a-bee-ndance of honey for fall!
A full post is on the process of bee-uilding the hives is coming soon, and I promise it will not be so full of awful bee puns.

100 Project Challenge

I am notorious for setting goals and standards for myself that are waaay too high. When I came up with the idea of the 100 Project Challenge, I talked myself off of it thinking it was just another pie in the sky. But the more I thought about it, the more I liked it. Will I actually finish a hundred projects? Almost definitely not. At worst, it’s healthy practice in sitting with failure. At best, I complete 100 projects house, total win. And regardless of the outcome, it’s a fun, memorable series for social media. Really a win all around!

I need to figure out how to share progress for the 100 Project Challenge, soooo just come back later to check out the project tracker!

Looking to the Month Ahead

With it finally being warm enough to be outside, we can finally get started on the big outside projects. The first up will be fixing up the floor in the Workshop, which will give us a space to store tools, keep projects-in-progress, and take on things that we couldn’t safely do in the house. And we’re not limited by the weather anymore, so as long as we don’t have an ice rink between here and the shop, we’ll be able to work year-round.

The Secret Garden is also high up on my list. I’m behind on getting it moving, but it’s also a lot bigger than I anticipated when I planned it out, so.. we’ll see where that ends up at the end of the month.

On the small projects front, we’re going to be getting some simple things squared away too, adding furniture, hopefully moving the last of some boxes out, and a couple of functional builds. And as many trips to the local dump as we can fit in to get rid of the inherited trash pile.

Outside of that, we’re going to be rolling out the YouTube channel this month! Super super scary and embracing the cringe is SO hard, but life is short and living to avoid everyone else’s cringe isn’t going to do anything for me, right?? That’s what I keep saying to myself, hoping I start to believe it soon!

All in all, it’s been a slow first few months, but the sun is shining, the house is (kinda) clean, and it’s time to make it happen!

Be sure to follow along on socials, lots of fun stuff coming in April!
